Draw DF and the value of DF should be 2 km.

EF = FD +DE = 2+5 = 7 Km

AF= 5 - 3 = 2 Km

In right angle triangle AFE,

\text{AE} = \sqrt{2^2+7^2}\\\\\text{AE} =\sqrt{4+49}\\\\\text{AE} =\sqrt{53}\\\\\text{AE} =7.28
