Given : One dozen students each drop a brass tack six times from a height of six inches onto a level hard surface. They record the number of times the tack lands point up. The table below lists their results.

To Find :    the experimental probability that the tack lands point-up for student 4

Solution:

student 4

Point up = 4

non point up = 2

Total = 4 + 2 = 6

Probability  that the tack lands point-up for student 4     = 4/6

= 2/3
