One evening before sunset two friends Sumit and Mohit were talking to each other face to face. If
Mohit’s shadow was exactly to his right side, which direction was Sumit facing ?

Sun sets in the west and hence shadow forms towards right of the person if he faces north. Here mohit's shadow is to his right side hence he is standing to North. Since they are facing each other, sumit is facing to the south.

Now lets see,  Sun rises in the East and sets in the West. So if it is setting then any person who is facing sun then his shadow will be cast in exactly opposite direction, that is towards East.

Now in case of Sumit and Mohit, they are facing each other such that Mohits shadow is formed exactly to his right side.

Now that is only possible if Mohit is facing North side. His shadow is formed towards East direction (opposite to the sunset direction).

As they are facing each other, when talking so it is obvious that Sumit is facing opposite to Mohit.

If Mohit is facing North then Sumit is facing South direction.
