one fifth of a number minus 4 gives 3

Let the number be X

According to question,

1/5 × X - 4 = 3

X/5 -4 = 3

X - 20/5 = 3

X -20 => 3 × 5


X = 15+20 => 35

=> x/5 - 4 = 3

=> x = 35
