postmaster realized the pain of Ali when he himself was not able to know the condition of her daughter who was far from him and was ill.He used to come early in the postoffice like the Ali and waited eagerly for her daughter's letter. From this situation we learn that one understand the pain of other if he also goes from the same situation.
