Let the number be `x`
1/4 th of the number = 1/4of x = x/4
Adding 7 to the number = (x/4)+7
                                      =(x+28)/4
Multiplying 3 to this number = (x+28)/4 × 3
                                             =(3x + 84)/4
Given that this resulting number = 36
⇒(3x+84)/4 = 36
⇒3x+84 = 36×4
⇒3x+84 = 144
⇒3x = 144-84
⇒3x = 60
⇒x = 60/3
∴x = 20
∴The number is 20
