Recently I got an opportunity to be at a railway station when I went to receive my mother. She was returning from Delhi after a short visit to her relatives. I was standing at platform number 1, waiting for Shatabdi Express to arrive from Delhi. All around me there was noise. The announcer was incessantly announcing the arrival, departure of trains along with the train numbers and their arrival and departure timing. She was repeating the information about the delayed trains. My mother's train was also delayed by an hour. People were waiting for the train to arrive. Trains were arriving very slowly at different platforms. The platforms began to teem with human activities as the train stopped and thousands of passengers got off and on them. An electrical cleaning vehicle with mop was cleaning and mopping the platform. The tracks were awfully dirty and unhygienic. They were stinking badly. Hawkers were moving up and down the platform hawking their goods. I was getting impatient as I just wanted to get away from there. Finally, after a long wait my mother’s train arrived and I helped her get off the coach and drove her home.
