Public sector plays a key role in the industrial development of the country. After independence, the number of public sector undertakings has increased considerably. There are a few industries that have been reserved exclusively under public sector enterprises. Some of them are as follows:


* Manufacture of ammunition, arms and allied items relating to defense equipment
