One mole of a perfect gas undergoes an isothermal expansion from A to B at 27 degree Celsius. Then the pressure of the gas is again increased from B to C.Find the amount of work done by the gas from A to C. (R=8.31J/K/mol).

Answer:

The work done for an isothermal process is given by:

Work done (W)=−nRTln(V1V2)=−1×8.314×300×ln(25250)

∴ Work done(W)=−5744J
