Given:

One number is 5/2 times as large as another. The sum of the numbers is 28.

To Find:

Find the numbers.

Solution:

Let the number be x

We are given that One number is 5/2 times as large as another.

Another number =\frac{5}{2}x

We are also given that The sum of the numbers is 28.

So. x+\frac{5}{2}x=28\\\frac{2x+5x}{2}=28\\\frac{7x}{2}=28\\7x=28 \times 2\\x=\frac{28 \times 2}{7}\\x=8

Another number = \frac{5}{2}x=\frac{5}{2}(8)=20

Hence The numbers are 8 and 20
