base= 8cm

height =15cm

hypotenuse=?

let hypotenuse be x

By Pythagoras theorem

 {hyp}^{2 }  =  {base}^{2}   +  {alt}^{2}  \\  {x}^{2}  = {8}^{2}  +   {15 }^{2}  \\ 64  + 225 \\ {x}^{2}   =  \sqrt{289}  \\ x = 17
