Answer:

BC = 6 cm

Height AD = 4 cm

Area of ∆ = (1/2) base × height

= (1/2) × BC × AD

= (1/2) × 6 × 4 = 12 cm2

Again area of ∆ = (1/2) × AC × BE

12 = (1/2) × 8 × BE

∴ BE = (12 × 2)/8

BE = (12 × 2)/8

BE = 3 cm

∴ (i) 12cm2 (ii) 3 cm2
