2. National Assembly held long debates whether the rights of man should be extended to all the French citizens, including those working in plantations.
3. even then the Assembly didn't pass any loss because of the strong opposition by the businessmen whose income depended on the slave trade.
In all these circumstances, abolition of slavery under the Jacobin regime was revolutionary as it freed the slaves.
