One of the zeros of polynomial P(x) can be (-5) or 1/2.

Given

✭ P(x) = 2x²+9x-5

ToFind

☆ Factorise the above expression.

Steps

➝ 2x²+10x-x-5 = 0

➝ (2x²+10x)+(-x-5) = 0

➝ 2x(x+5) -1(x+5) = 0

➝ (x+5)(2x-1) = 0

Either x+5 = 0

\sf\orange{\dashrightarrow x = (-5)}⇢x=(−5)

Either (2x-1) = 0

➢ 2x = 1

\sf\orange{\dashrightarrow x = 1/2}⇢x=1/2

Some important formulas:

a³-b³ = (a-b)(a²+b²+ab)

(a+b)² = (a-b)²+4ab

(a-b)² = (a+b)²-4ab
