Given :   point of trisection of the line segment joining (3, -3) and (6, 9)

To Find : any one point

Solution:

Trisection point divides segment in 1:2  or  2 : 1 ratio

(3, -3) and (6, 9)

Ratio 1 : 2

Point

= ( 1 * 6 + 2 * 3)/(1 + 2) ,  ( 1 *+ 9  + 2 * - 3)/(1 + 2)

= (6 + 6)/3  , (9 - 6)/3

= 12/3 , 3/3

= 4 , 1

Similarly other point 2 : 1

Hence ( 5 ,  5)

Points of trisections area

( 4 , 1) and ( 4 , 5)
