one ship sailing east with speed of 7.5m/s passes a certain point at 8A.m and a second ship sailing north at same speed,passed at 9:30A.m at what time are they closest together and what is the distance between them?​

If we take the diagram after the first ship crosses the point at 8:00 AM, after that the most closest distance, the ship 2 can get to ship 1 is the straight line between the point and the ship, like in the scenario near it making the distance between the ship 2 and ship 1 as B’’’A.  

Now after the point crossed by ship1 till ship 2 reaches that point is d, making the value of the distance as  

D = Speed(S) x Time(T)

The value of the speed(S) = 7.5 m/sec

The time taken by the ship 2 to reach point B’’’ is 90 minutes or 5400 seconds

Therefore, the distance of the closeness between two ships is 40.5 km
