One shop has rice sorted into three containers with different quality in each one. In
the first container, there are 0.6% grains of rice are unusable, in the second one
1.5% are unusable, and in the third one, 8% are unusable. They took different
quantities from each container and made a mix with 3.3% of unusable grains. They
mixed twice as many kilograms from the second than from the first container. How
many kilograms were taken from the third container if the weight of that rice was 0.8
kilograms more than the weight taken from the first container?

Given :  In the first container, there are 0.6% grains of rice are unusable, in the second one 1.5% are unusable, and in the third one, 8% are unusable.

They took different quantities from each container and made a mix with 3.3% of unusable grains. They mixed twice as many kilograms from the second than from the first container.

To Find : How many kilograms were taken from the third container if the weight of that rice was 0.8 kilograms more than the weight taken from the first container?

Solution:

1st container Rice  = R kg

2nd container Rice = 2R  kg

3rd container = R + 0.8 kg

Total Rice = R + 2R + R + 0.8  = 4R + 0.8 kg

3.3% of unusable  = (3.3 * (4R + 0.8))/100  = 13.2R/100  + 2.64/100 kg

1st container, there are 0.6% grains of rice are unusable  = 0.6R/100 kg

2nd container, there are 1.5% grains of rice are unusable  = 1.5*2R/100 = 3R/100 kg

3rd container, there are 8% grains of rice are unusable  = 8*(R+0.8)/100 = 8R/100  +6.4/100 kg

Total unusable  =  0.6R/100 + 3R/100  + 8R/100  +6.4/100

=  11.6R/100  + 6.4/100   kg

13.2R/100  + 2.64/100 =  11.6R/100  + 6.4/100

=> 13.2R + 2.64 = 11.6R + 6.4

=> 1.6R = 3.76

=> R = 3.76/1.6

=> R = 2.35

R + 0.8 = 2.35 + 0.8  = 3.15  kg

3.15  kg rice were taken from the third container
