When electric current flows through wires (conductors) there is heat generated. The heat is dissipated into the air and into the equipment.
So disadvantages are that
1. The electrical equipment or electronic gadget gets heated up. It
could burn the skin of users.
2. Energy is lost. That is energy generated in the form of voltage &
current is lost during the transmission of current to the other end.
3. Heating effects of current contributes to increase in the global
warming. The heat increases the temperature of air & atmosphere
as there radiation.
4. The heat could break the circuit and breakdown the equipment.
Several short-circuit based fire accidents happen in many factories.
That causes burning of the building, houses and stored products.
5. So to prevent accidents, we need good insulation of wires. We
need insulation that does not catch fire easily.
