A CPU can be called the brain of a computer but the heart and soul of the computer is the Operating System.

The operating system connects the software of the computer to the hardware.

Any instruction given my the software is relayed to the hardware by the Operating system and the feedback from the hardware back to the software is relayed by the OS.
