a. Shylock is called ‘the devil’. Antonio calls him a devil because Shylocks condition for the bond was that he will cut out a pound of flesh from Antonio’s chest if he is unable to payback the amount.

b. Characters are Bassanio, Shylock and Antonio. Shylocks condition for the bond was that he will cut out a pound of flesh from Antonio’s chest if he is unable to payback the amount. Antonio is confident in signing the bond because he has many ships sailing to different places and it is impossible for all of them to sink and bear losses.

c. Shylock hates Antonio because he was mistreated by him for being a Jew. He is right for hating Antonio because he was discriminated against for having a different religion.
