or
So, the length of rectangle is 64 cm.
Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 (1 + b) = 2 (64 +25) cm
= 2 x 89 cm = 178 cm
So, the perimeter of the rectangle is 178 cm even though its area is the same as that f
the square.
EXERCISE 11.1
1. The length and the breadth of a rectangular piece of land are 500 m and 30s
respectively. Find
(i) its area (i) the cost of the land, if 1 m² of the land costs 10,000
2. Find the area of a square park whose perimeter is 320 m.
3. Find the breadth of a rectangular plot of land, if its area is 440 m² and the lenger
22 m. Also find its perimeter.

Answer:

1) i) area of rectangle = length * breadth = 500 * 30 = 15000m square

  ii)  cost of 1m square * area of rectangle = ₹ 15,00,00,000

2)  side of square = its perimeter /4 ( because perimeter of square = side * 4 )

                             = 320 / 4 = 80 m

  now,

 area of square = side * side = 80 * 80 = 6400m square

3) area of rectangular plot = length * breadth

  => 440 = 22 * x

  => x = 440/22

  => x = 20m

 now,

 perimeter of rectangle = 2 ( length + breadth )

                                        = 2 ( 22 + 20 )

                                        = 2 * 42

                                        = 84m
