ORAL QUESTIONS
1. Since friction slows us down, we can run very fast if friction is eliminated. Do you agree? Give reasons.
2. It was found that a machine with moving parts was getting overheated. What was the heat due to?

1) No, i do not agree. Friction helps us in moving, if there is no friction we can not move. Suppose, if you move on floor and there is no force to oppose your motion then you will continue moving unless you are stopped by some object.

2) Heat is due to the friction produced between the moving parts. Heat generated can be reduced by lubricating with grease, oil, etc which reduces friction between the moving parts for proper functioning and less heat generation.

3) Air exerts friction against object moving through it because air molecules are in constant random motion when an object moves through it the impact of air molecules on the object due its surface area increases while moving which increases force of friction between them.
