Solution :

discount =(1450+2*850)(0.1)

=(1450+1700)(0.1)

=315 Rs

Customers have to pay=Total price-discount =3150-315=2835 Rs.

Given: Order value is 110.10$, customer have 50% coupon and 40% coupon but places the order using 40% discount coupon and bit later customer realises that 50% discount coupon is missed and accidentally used 40% coupon instead. Now customer contacts you to apply the missed 50% coupon.

To find: Discount to be given to the customer in $ value and in %

Solution: Order value= $110.10

When 40% discount coupon was used

Discount in $

= 40% of 110.10

= (40/100) × 110.10

= 0.4 × 110.10

= $44.04

If 50% discount coupon is used

Discount in $

= 50% of 110.10

=(50/100)×110.10

= 0.5 × 110.10

= $55.05

Since he used the 40% coupon instead of 50% coupon, the discount to be given in $ if he uses 50% coupon is

= Discount at 50% - Discount at 40%

= $55.05 - $44.04

= $44.04

= $11.01

Let the percentage discount be x.

To calculate the percentage discount, we use the formula:

Extra discount = x% of the orginal discount

=> $11.01 = (x/100) × $44.04

=> 1101/44.04 = x

=> x = 25%

It means that 25% discount should be given at the 40% discount price to bring the overall discount % to 50%.

Therefore, the discount value to be given to the customer is $11.01 in $value and 25% in % value on the 40% discount price to make the overall discount % to 50%.
