It have named on the basis of halogen as halides.

Haloges :- F,Cl,Br,I

They make a long straight chain.

The halogen atom X is bonded to alkyl halide group R .

The homologous series ,

General Formulae :- CnH2n+1 X.

They are further classified into :-

  • Primary (1°)

  • Secondary (2°)

  • Tertiary (3°)
