Osama bin Laden, the originator and first commander of the Islamist association Al-Qaeda, was assassinated in Pakistan on May 2, 2011, after 1:00 am PKT by United States Navy SEALs of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group. The attack on bin Laden's home in Abbottabad, Pakistan was driven from Afghanistan. U.S. military administrators said that after the attack U.S. armies captured the body of bin Laden to Afghanistan for testimony, then sank it at sea in 24 hours of his death in accordance with Islamic culture.
