Various cells have different sizes and shapes in our body depending on their function.
Examples:
RBC are biconcave shaped to store oxygen and carbon dioxide.
Nerve cells are longer thin fibres to transport nerve impulses.
White blood cells are small irregular shaped to squeeze out through capillary walls.
These cells of similar shape, size and function together combine to form a tissue. Now, many tissues of similar function form an organ and many organs together form a complex organ system which forms an organism.
So, ultimately cells are the units which are important.
Thanks.
