our department has scheduled a 4-hour meeting. A presentation by the head of the department will be given during 1/3 of the meeting. There will also be a 25-minute briefing by the process improvement team, a half-hour presentation by another department, and a 20-minute benefits update from Human Resources. How much time is available for questions or other topics?

Answer:

1 hour and 25 minutes is available.

Explanation:

If the meeting is scheduled for 4 hours then that translates to 240 minutes.

so a third of the meeting time is dedicated to the head of the department an that translates to 80 minutes.

25 minutes are dedicated for the improvement team.

One hour is for presentation by another department and that translates to 60 minutes.

20 minutes are dedicated to the Human resource.

The  sum of the total minutes taken for all presentations  is 155 minutes.

so 240 minutes subtract 155 minutes we find 85 minutes which translate to 1 hour and 25 minutes.
