Answer:
Matilda was not happy with the circumstances of her life. She tried to show off by taking the easy way. She could have avoided being ruined by accepting her current situation. She should have known that there is no short cuts to achieve something in life. She should have to work hard to make her dream come true.

The Necklace by Guy De Maupassant is a tale of a woman who cannot survive within her means. Matilda is part of a middle class family, but wants a lifestyle that is luxurious. Her husband is an employee who is not willing to fulfill all her criteria. Matilda wants to borrow a necklace from her rich friend to take part in a dance. Upon returning from the party, Matilda loses the necklace. Loisel and her husband spent all their money and loans on a similar necklace, which cost them a lot.
They have everything they can do to repay the loan after that. It takes 10 years of hard work and several sacrifices before Matilda could pay back all her loans. It takes time and hard work and Matilda ages quickly. She meets her rich friend and tells the whole story after that tortuous time. However, her friend claims it was a cheap fake necklace and not a diamond necklace.
Explanation:
- Matilda desired a queen's life. However her family background did not permit that . She wasn't willing to accept the reality of her situation. She was hell bent on showing off. In coming to embrace her present condition, she may have prevented this.
- Since losing the necklace, Mathilde's life has taken a turn. This was because she decides to take matters into her own hands instead of swallowing her pride, accepting this reality, and confessing to her friend. She goes out of her way replace the lost necklace
- Matilda fell into a debt trap because of a necklace, and she was forced to live like a normal middle class woman. She started to do all the household tasks a lady normally of her status does.
- The consequence was that she became coarse, bitter, and overwhelmed. Her beauty disappeared and she became an angry and ugly huma . All this was totally needless. As the end of the story suggests it being a necklace made of fake diamonds so it was possible that Matilda and her husband did not have borrow beyond their means. One must either try to work hard to realise one’s dreams or stop dreaming altogether.
