The mouth is indeed the munching machine. The teeth help in tearing, biting and chewing activity. The saliva, which initiates the enzymatic activity in the human body, softens up the food, which is thereafter pushed into the oesophagus as a bolus by a swallowing process for further enzymatic activity of digestion, assimilation, absorption and ejection as waste excreta down the digestive tract.
