Yes , this statement is indeed correct . Not only did Indians had to gain independence from British rule , we also had to reform our society in many ways . A prime example of this could be the ban on sati . Also , Indian freedom fighters had the responsibility of uniting a country which is so diverse in it’s culture and history . There were many religions , languages , races etc. that had to be united in order to create the India we have today .
