Out of 1000 persons of a locality, females and males are in ratio 1:4. find number of male and female.

Let the ratio of male and female be X:4X
A/q
X+4X = 1000
5X = 1000
X=1000/5
200

Female=1×200=200
Male=4×200= 800

So , Total no. of persons = 1000

ATQ ,
4x + x = 1000
=> 5x = 1000
=> x = 1000/5
=> x = 200

Therefore , no. of males = 4x
= 4*200
= 800
no. of females = x
= 200
