Given:-

  • 800 people knows English.
  • 50 people knows Punjabi.
  • Total number of people = 1200.

Find:-

a) Percentage of people who knows English.

b) Percentage of people who knows both Punjabi and English

Solution:-

a) Percentage People who knows English = People who knows English/Total number of people × 100

=> 800/1200 × 100

=> 800/12

=> 66.67 %

•°• 66.67% people knows English.

b) People who knows both English and Punjabi = Total number of people - (People who knows English + People who knows Punjabi)

=> 1200 - (800 + 50)

=> 1200 - 850

=> 350

Percentage of people who knows both Punjabi and English = People who knows Punjabi and English/Total number of people × 100

=> 350/1200 × 100

=> 350/12

=> 29.16%
