Out of 1900 km, Vishal travelled some distance by bus and some by aeroplane.

Bus travels with average speed 60 km/hr and the average speed of aeroplane is

700 km/hr. It takes 5 hours to complete the journey. Find the distance, Vishal

travelled by bus.

let the time taken by Vishal (by bus) be x
so, time taken by aeroplane = 5 - c
so , distance travelled by bus = speed × Time
distance = 60 × x = 60x
________________________
Distance travelled by aeroplane = speed × Time
Distance = 700 × (5 - x) = 3500 - 700x

ATQ
The linear equation formed is
distance travelled by bus + distance travelled by aeroplane = Total distance
________________________
60x + (3500 - 700x) = 1900km
60x - 700x + 3500 = 1900km
-640x = 1900 - 3500
-640x = -1600km
x = \frac{ - 1600}{ - 640} \\ x = 2.5 \: hr \: or \: \frac{25}{10} hr
distance \: travelled \: by \: bus \: \\= 60x =60 \times\frac{25}{10} \\ 150km \\
so, the distance travelled bu bus is 150 km

hope it helps.

Answer:

Let the distance traveled by bus = x

Time taken traveling by bus = x/60

Distance traveled by plane = (1900-x)

Time taken traveling by plane = (1900-x)/700

Total time = x/60 + (1900-x)/700 = 5

x/60 – x/700 = 16/7

8/525x = 16/7

x = 150

Therefore, the distance traveled by bus = 150km
