Given:

Total distance = 1900 km

Distance by bus = bus km

Distance by airplane = ( 1900 - bus ) km

Total time = 5 hrs

Speed of the bus = 60 km / hr

Speed of the airplane = 700 km / hr

To find:

The distance traveled by bus.

Solution:

Time traveled in bus = Bus / 60

Time traveled in airplane = ( 1900 - bus ) / 700

Total time = Time traveled in bus + Time traveled in airplane

Total time = Bus / 60 + ( 1900 - Bus ) / 700

Substituting,

Bus / 60 - Bus / 700 + 1900 / 700 = 5

( 35 * Bus - 3 * Bus ) / 2100 = 5 - 19 / 7

32 * Bus = 2100 * ( 35 - 19 ) / 7

32 * Bus = 300 * 16

Bus = 4800 / 32

Hence,

Bus = 150 km
