Hey..... It is Stated that D spends 20%of income on house rent and 70% of remaining amount on house hold expenditure...so he spends 70% of 80%income left after paying house rent.
So if total income is 'R' .20% of R is used for paying house rent and 70%(R - 20%R) is used for paying for household expenditure..so we can conclude that 30%(R - 20%) is left unused.hence constitute for savings..given savings are 1800
so 30%(R - 20%*R) =1800
R - R*20% = 1800/30%
R(0.8)= 6000
=7500 = Total income
therefore Total income= 7500
House rent = 7500*20%=1500
Household expenditure= 70%(R - R.20%) = 70%(7500-1500) =4200
Savings= 1800
