International Staffing is choosing the right employees in other countries. It depends on certain factors such as the position/ vacancy available, hiring laws set by the government in the country. And the ability of the organisation to attract the right candidate.
The ethnocentric approach is mainly that the organisation thinks that hiring policies of all countries are the same. That is if rule applies to one country it applies to all others also. The key positions in the organisation are filled by the employees of the parent country. All managerial decisions are made by the headquarters and then followed by the host company.
On the other hand in the polycentric approach the nationals of the country are recruited to run the business in their own country. This allows the organisation to run more efficiency as nationals understand the culture, the people the rules and regulations of the country much better than the foreign employees.

Main characteristics of the ethnocentric and polycentric approaches to international staffing:
Ethnocentric approach- It’s a method of international recruitment when a company choose only from the citizens of the parent company and all decisions are taken by the headquarter which is followed by the host company. In this employee can coordinate better between host and parent company.
Polycentric approach- Employee are recruited from their own country to run their business in their native country. Hiring of local employee is less expensive and they can understand their culture better which helps them to run their business more efficiently.
