oxidation no of carbon in daimond is 0 ..
simillarly ..
in graphite it is also 0 ....

graphite and daimond vary in hybridization states ...
graphite= sp2 hybridized ...
daimond = sp3 hybridized ...

due to this hybridization property graphite is thermally stronger than daimond..
