Carbon monoxide. It attaches to red blood cells the way oxygen does, but won't detach afterwards, rendering them incapable of transproting oxygen. It will effectively reduce blood’s capacity to carry oxygen.

▶️The oxygen carrying capacity of blood is reduced due to pollution because the compound known as Carbaminohaemoglobin formed by the reaction of carbon dioxide and haemoglobin and carboxyhaemoglobin formed by the reaction of carbon monoxide and haemoglobin are much stable than oxygen- haemoglobin complex.
