The cover plate is removed
from the gas jars shown in the
diagram. After several days,
the colour of the gas is the
same in both jars. Why does
this happen? Explain.

Diffusion has occurred in the jars. ... Oxygen molecules move from a region where they are of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration in the gas jar below. Diffusion continues until both gas jars have uniform distribution of bromine and oxygen molecules.
