Given :  perpendicular distance p of the line from origin and the angle α made by the perpendicular with x-axis are given as

p=4,α=90

To Find :  Equation of line

Solution:

Line

y = mx + c

m = slope of line

m = tanα

=> m = tan90

=> m = 1/0

y = (1/0)x + c

=> 0  = x  + c

=>  x  + c  = 0

Distance  of line from origin = p = 4

=>   √(c  - 0)² + (0-0)² = 4

=>  c² = 16

=> c = ± 4

x  + c  = 0

=> x  ± 4 = 0

x + 4 = 0  , x - 4 = 0

equation of the straight line  x + 4 = 0   or   x - 4 = 0
