P ans Q Work together is :

P + Q complete a piece of work in 12 days

P complete a piece of work in 20 days

First we take LCM of these numbers 12 , 20

so,                           LCM is 60                              ( total work is 60 )

P + Q complete whole work in 12 days and total work is 60

then P + Q complete work in  1 day = 60/12 = 5     (efficiency of P + Q )

P complete whole work in 20 days and total work is 60

then P complete work in  1 day = 60/20 = 3     (efficiency of P )

now ,

Efficiency of P is 3

and Efficiency of P + Q is 5               ( P = 3)

so,          Q = 2    ( in 1 day )

but according to question, it says that q does the work only half a day daily

so            Q = 2/2 = 1

now ,        P + Q = 3 + 1 = 4

so ,                       total work  = 60

                            P + Q  =  60/4    = 15 day
