Step-by-step explanation:

P can do the work in 15 days, that is, P does 1/15 th of the work per day.

Q can do the work in 20 days, that is, Q does 1/20 th of the work per day.

The LCM of 15 and 20 is 60, so we can write the same two statements as

P can do the work in 15 days, that is, P does 4/60 th of the work per day.

Q can do the work in 20 days, that is, Q does 3/60 th of the work per day.

So if P and Q work together for 4 days the fraction of the work completed is 4*(4/60 + 3/60) or 4*7/60 or 7/15 th of the whole job and what remains uncompleted is 8/15 th of the job.
