P is the centre of the circle and it's radius is 10cm . Distance of a chord AB from the centre is 6 cm . Find the length of chord AB

See the attached figure,
Let AB be chord and DP be perpendicular from centre to chord.

According to Pythagoras theorem
AP² = AD² + DP²
(10)² = AD² + (6)²
100-36 = AD²
AD = √64
AD = 8

We know perpendicular from centre bisects the chord so AD = DB

So AB = 8+8 = 16cm
