Question :
Divide p(x) = x³ - 3x² + 4x + 10 by g(x) = x + 1
Solution :
Dividing p(x) = x³ - 3x² + 4x + 10 by g(x) = x + 1,
Root of the equation g(x),
=> x + 1 = 0
=> x = -1
Now, Putting the value of x in p(x), we get :-
= (-1)³ - 3 × (-1)² + 4 × (-1) + 10
= - 1 - 3 × 1 + (-4) + 10
= - 1 - 3 - 4 + 10
= - 8 + 10
= 2
Hence, the remainder when p(x) is divided by g(x) is 2 respectively.
