2x + 3y = 3 \\ x = \frac{3 - 3y}{2}...(1) \\ 5x - 2y = 17 \\ \to5( \frac{3 - 3y}{2} ) - 2y = 17 \\ \to \: 15 - 15y - 4y = 34 \\ \to - 19y = 19 \\ \to \: y = - 1 \\ \therefore \: \: \: x = \frac{3 - 3( - 1)}{2} \\ = \frac{3 + 3}{2} \\ = 3
