Given

  • Area of trapezium = 144 m²
  • Height = 24 m

To find out

Sum of parallel sides?

Formula used

Area of trapezium = 1/2 ( b1+ b2) × h

Solution

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × h × ( b1 + b2)

144 = 1/2 × 24 ×( b1 + b2)

144 = 12 (b1+ b2)

b1 + b2 = 12 m

\huge\underline\mathcal\purple{Question:}

Area of trapezium is 144 m²

The height = 24m

Find the sum of parallel side ?

\huge\underline\mathcal\purple{Formula\: used :}

Area of trapezium= \dfrac{1}{2}(sum of || sides)×h

\huge\underline\mathcal\purple{Solution:}

=> Area = \dfrac{1}{2}(sum of parallel sides)× h

=> 144 = \dfrac{1}{\cancel{2}}(sum of parallel sides) × \cancel{24}

=> 144 = 12 × sum of parallel sides

=> \dfrac{144}{12} = sum of parallel sides

=> 12 = sum of parallel sides

∴ Sum of parallel sides is 12 m

\huge\underline\mathcal\purple{About \: trapezium :}

1) A Quadrilateral which has only two parallel sides and the other two sides are non-parallel is called trapezium.

2) It has four sides and four vertices.

3) It is a convex quadrilateral with no line of symmetry.

4) Isosceles trapezium has 1 line of symmetry
