Over indulging the children and pets means giving the food in large amount that they did not need. It is good only to some extent because if we give them the food in large amount daily so, they will get ill in some days and not eat any food as the Tricki in thos story. All this same happen with the Tricki. So, the conclusion is this give as much food as the children and the pets need to grow.
