A village fair is an annual affair of the villagers. It is a small exhibition of fancy goods. I visited a village fair last year. It is usually held once in a year on an open place either in a riverbank or under a big tree. It lasts for two to seven days or more. There are hundreds of stalls for selling various articles. Such as toys, dolls, balloons, ribbons, wooden-utensils, earthen pots, household goods, baskets etc. There is a large number of sweetmeat stalls and they tame the buyers. Especially the children like more this than any other things. The chief objects of attention are Circus party, Puppet show, and Jatra all around. It is also a meeting ground for the old and the young, the rich and the poor. It is considered an important part of our culture.

A village fair is an occasion of the village people to enjoy a public gathering .Almost all fairs are common in villages , towns and cities .At every festival , a number of fairs are held at Ramlila grounds during Diwali .I went with my parents we went there by a bus .the bus was packed with people and roads were unusually busy . people were going to different directions .At Ramlila grounds ,there was a huge crowd of people at the entry itself .It was all very colourful .Two elephants were there at entrance to welcome the people . in the fair .there were over 200 different items of stalls .children were buying toys . fireworks and candles .my mother wanted to do some shopping .so ,we went to different stalls ,while come back , I pleaded with my father to take a ride on the merry - go -round .After the ride ,we started for home .it was a day which I thoroughly enjoyed .Fairs are a lot of fun .
