There is are a lot of difference between a real friend and a virtual friend.

We do not get to know the real intention, motive or emotions of a virtual friend most of them can be hippocrates which no one may know. While in case of real friend one can judge them by the look on there faces and may know there emotions and behaviour.

A virtual friend will never be as close as a real friend because he/she will never get into the other's emotion and put their shoes in them.

A virtual friend may be living at distance and still be in close contact but a real friend will also remain virtual while being away and when close can be in presence.
