Plants and trees are intimately connected with our life and well-being. It boons and benefits derived from them are too many to count. They provide shelter, food, fruits, fodder, wood, timber, medicine, oxygen; check soil- erosion, pollution and floods. They also check very effectively the spread of the desert and landslides. They are essential to maintain ecological balance and preservation of fauna. "Plant More Trees ' should not remain a mere slogan but become a religion and creed with all to us. We all should plant and grow more and more trees, and protect them. Social forestry should be taken on a large scale, and trees grown all around where there is space to them. Trees add to the quality to our life and living. Without trees and forests there-* would be deserts and desolation all around us.

Our life is dependent upon trees. There is a long association of man and trees. Since the hoary past man and trees have been the two major creations of Nature. In his prehistoric days man turned to trees and plants to collect the things vitally necessary for his existence. Since that time man and trees have been interdependent, though man is more indebted to trees.

Trees and plants produce oxygen (O2) through the process of photosynthesis. They use sunlight to convert water and carbon-dioxide into oxygen and carbohydrates. We need oxygen for our survival.

Men’s experiences of the last century have taught him that trees and plants are the key factors to strike a balance in the eco-system.

Replanting of trees has been taken up in right earnest. The forests contain a large number of animal species, crops and medicines. Establishment of new forests with large number of trees (afforestation) is important on account of following reasons:

to provide shelter to wild animals,to combat pollution, andto re-fill the depleting oxygen afforestation is a must.We require a forest land equal to one third of the total land area.

Conclusion: In the past few decades, there has been massive cutting of trees (deforestation). The hunger for agricultural land, hunt for timber and necessity for cheap fuel caused massive deforestation. The tropical forest trees were once the nerve centre of this planet. A large number of trees have already been destroyed. At some places, trees are being destroyed even today. As an effect of deforestation, there is a threat to the species of biodiversity.

Hope my answer helps.

Tree plantation is good for the environment. Everyone knows that trees are the source of oxygen. They inhale carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen without which the survival of living beings is not possible on earth.

Apart from inhaling carbon dioxide trees also absorb various harmful gases including sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide and also filter harmful pollutants from the atmosphere thereby providing us fresher and cleaner air to breath. The growing amount of air pollution caused by the smoke emitted by vehicles and factories can be controlled only if we plant more and more trees. However, this is not the only reason why tree plantation is important. It offers several other benefits. Some of the top advantages of growing trees include:

• Providing fruits and leaves that serve as food for birds, animals as well as human beings.

• Maintaining bio diversity.

• Providing wood, rubber and other raw materials that are used for manufacturing various goods such as furniture, doors, windows, utensils, stationary items and decorative items.

• Conservation of water.

• Habitat for birds and animals.

• Climate Control.

• Preservation of soil.

Even though trees offer so many benefits and are extremely important for maintaining the ecological balance, we are cutting these ruthlessly. Tree plantation is essential to compensate for this loss
